Benefits of Parking Your Vehicles in the Garage

The recent round of severe storms that came through the Conroe and Montgomery County area this spring was a good reminder that we should all strive to keep our vehicles in the garage and out of the elements. Damaging hail, falling limbs, and rising water are three reasons that come to mind but there are many other factors to consider.

If your garage looks like this, we’ve got the extra space you need to get your vehicles safely back in your garage.

If your garage is full of things you only need a couple of times a year while your expensive vehicles – that you need to be able to count on day in and day out – sit outside in the elements, it might be time to consider putting the things you need occasionally in storage. A 10×20 unit is approximately the size of a one-car garage and certainly more affordable than frequently replacing or repairing your vehicles. Depending on what you need to store and with a little organization, a very affordable 5×5, 5×10 or 10×10 may be all you need.

Where the rubber meets the road

Did you know that continued exposure to the sun causes the protective coating to break down and your vehicle’s paint can get chalky, fade, or peel? Additionally, all cars and trucks have numerous rubber components such as radiator hoses, spark plug housings, windshield wipers, moon roofs, windshields, and window seals, not to mention the tires. All of these important components begin to degrade faster when exposed to excessive sunlight and extremely low or high temperatures. We all know the high summer temps will be here in no time.

The temperature inside a garage stays fairly consistent. As a result, the engine stays lubricated and the engine oil remains at its optimal viscosity for engine start-up. You can extend the life of your vehicle and tires by parking them in the garage and as a bonus – not burn your hands on the steering wheel when you get in to go somewhere this summer!
