How to help those in need in Montgomery County, Texas

The effects of COVID-19 and its economic impact has dramatically increased the number of Montgomery County residents who need assistance feeding themselves and their families. In fact, it has doubled. The Montgomery County Food Bank reports that it as of September 2020, it has been helping about 60,000 clients a month, which is twice their pre-COVID numbers.

At Montgomery Self Storage, we continue to do our part. Our location at 1418 FM 2854 Road, Conroe, TX 77304 became a drop-off point for food donations back in May and has kept it going as the need increased. Property Manager Cheryl Fancher reports that she has made “numerous deliveries to the Food Bank” and “truly appreciates the generous spirit of her customers.” Cheryl plans to continue this as long as the need is great. She has a large drop-off container conveniently located near the property’s office.

President and CEO of the Montgomery County Food Bank Kristine Marlow recently told the Conroe Courier that “we’re able to turn that food around and provide it to people right here in the local area.” She indicated that the most needed items at this time include:

•  canned meat or pouches

•  grains (rice, pasta, mac and cheese)

•  low sodium canned vegetables

•  canned or dry beans

•  peanut butter

•  light syrup canned fruit

•  hot and cold cereals

•  healthy snacks

If you do not feel comfortable or are not physically able to go shopping at this time, you can also make a welcome monetary donation to the food bank online, giving you the opportunity to still help your neighbors without leaving home.
